This is Part 2 of 4 on How to Make a Wallpaper Covered Journal.

This part of the process takes about 10 minutes

So you've made a cover for a journal to fit A5 pages into... now its time for the signatures

Art and Craft Supplies

  • 35 pages (A4 copy paper)
  • Pen
  • Awl or other 'pointy' tool

  • Method

    Make Signatures

    Signatures

Take five A4 copy paper pages and fold in half lengthwise to make a set of 20 A5 pages. This is a signature.

    Make six other signatures

    Marking Sewing Holes

    Marking signatures for sewing

Make a mark in the center of the fold line. The marks will be hidden against the spine when the pages are sewn into the journal

Make a mark about the same distance from the center mark on either side of that center mark

Marking the rest of the signatures

Line up the rest of the signatures and use that first signature as a template to mark the blank signatures as shown in the photo.

    You don't have to measure (I didn't)

    Making Sewing Holes

    Make Sewing Holes

Open out each signature and make holes where you marked them

Its now time to put the cover and pages together! Go to Part 3 of 4 on How to Make a Wallpaper Covered Journal - Readying the Spine

    Have fun! :)
