Posted 2013-10-07 by Mina Keenanfollow
Kids sewing cards are a good diversion on a rainy day and a good way to practice hand stitching.

All of these stitches are easy to master.

Art and Craft Supplies

  • Sewing cards
  • Yarn or embroidery floss
  • Scissors
  • Plastic needle

  • Stitches

    Running Stitch

Running Stitch: The simplest stitch of them all, just in and out. For more see here .

    Back stitch

Back Stitch: A good outline stitch. See how to do it .

    Overcast Stitch

Overcast Stitch: Another easy one, just through and over. See here .

    Cross Stitch

Cross Stitch: Overcast stitch an edge, go all around the piece, then make your way back still doing overcast stitch. The stitches are laid over each other, but going opposite ways. See here .

    Blanket Stitch

Blanket Stitch: A blanket stitch is an overcast stitch with a knot on top of it. See here .

    Have fun!
