Put the machine back together, and gave it a good polish.

Cleaned and polished the tabletop base and installed the machine back into it.

Time to test.

Leave the sound on so you can hear how this baby sounds. No plastic-ky clunkiness.Feels good. Chunky, solid, substantial.

Singer99s are plentiful and cheap. A first machine should have all it bits. The balance wheel should turn and everything should move.

As you are cleaning and polishing it, you can become familiar with the parts and what they do.

There is plenty of information on how to go about it - all free for now, so download any instruction and repair manuals.

The Singer99 uses normal needles, low shank foot attachments for other sewing needs

The Singer99 is a straight stitch machine, (produces beautiful strong stitches. Great for those beginning to sew including children.

I really enjoyed this project. I had 'practised' on a machine that was already 'working' but needed a good clean and adjustments to make it sew wonderfully.

Here is a great review about the Singer99.
