Homemade Lemon Oil

Posted 2014-04-21 by Mina Keenanfollow

When lemons are plentiful, make up a couple of batches for some homemade lemon oil for some straight-from-the-heart gift giving.

Such an innovative, inexpensive, multi-purpose product and easy project - you'll love it.

Supplies:

  • Approx 15 lemons
  • Peeler
  • Vegetable oil
  • Crockpot
  • Muslin or other cloth strainer
  • Bottles

  • Method

  • Peel about 15 lemons, trying to take at least pith as possible.

  • Put peelings into crock pot.

  • Cover with two or three cups of vegetable oil.

  • Cook on low four hours.

  • Strain oil through muslin.

  • Bottle.

  • Other

  • I used a couple of clear booze bottles - save the bottle tops and paint them.

  • Decorate the bottle with your own label and a length of ribbon.

  • Leftover Lemons:

Cut off the tops and tails. Chop them into quarters. Pop them in a plastic bag to freeze them for later use.

You can use this Lemon Oil as a base for cosmetic and cleaning products.
