Easy Knitted Blanket Square
Here's a nice wee project for beginner knitters.
Art and Craft Supplies
4mm knitting needles
8 ply, double knitting wool
Method
Gater stich (knit every row)
Other
My lovely neighbour in her 80's, knits blanket squares for charity. She sends them to her sister who sews them together.
She quite often brings over home baking so I thought I would make some squares to add to her next post day stash.
The blanket squares has 40 stitches and 70 rows and is worked in garter stitch (knit every row) on 4mm needles.
Each square measures approximately 7 inches or 23cm and the garter stitch makes nice density for a solid feeling fabric.
Feel like making one yourself?
For bed covers you would need:
Single blanket: 7 rows by 8 rows make 77 squares
Double blanket: 9 rows by 11 rows make 99 squares
Queen blanket: 9 rows by 12 rows make 108 squares
King blanket: 11 rows by 12 rows make 132 squares
As there is no pattern to wrestle with this is a good project for nights in front of tv, especially during the cooler months of the year.
