Follow along and make a Beer Box Journal! This is Part 4 of 6 - The Journal Closings. You can see a similar journal here: Cardboard Journal

Art and Craft Supplies

  • Elastic
  • Awl or other pointy tool
  • Beads or buttons
  • Glue or strong thread or needle

  • Method

Back inside cover showing elastic closure

Make a hole with the awl in the back cover approximately halfway down the edge as shown in the photo and thread the elastic through. Loosely tie ends together. Adjust the elastic length once your journal is finished.

Inside front cover showing stitching used to attach bead for front closure

Sew or glue a biggish bead to the front cover, about half way down the open edge. The bead will give a place for the elastic to hold the journal closed.

    Outside front cover

Attach a button or something else to tidy up or hide the bead. In this case I've used a beer bottle top.

    Nearly finished! Well done.

    Have fun!
