Art and Craft Supplies

  • A4 sized cardboard pieces
  • Paints
  • Damp rag

  • Method

Each A4 sized piece of cardboard will make four pages for this type of journal. These boards were rescued from an old paint sample folder.

Apply paint with an old damp cloth. This makes for quick coverage and applies a wash background.

Start by 'washing' each board. Don't be too fussy with this - its okay if boards aren't completely covered. The main point is to lay colour. Staying with one colour for this will integrate the pages making them look as though they belong together.

Wipe the inside cover with paint.

Use the same cloth to apply another colour. You don't need to wait until the first coat of paint is dry.

And another colour. Try swiping and dabbing to add variation.

    Your basic pages are finished.

For this particular journal, make a few more more pages than you need so you can make matching tags, notebooks and pockets to put inside.

    Have fun!

Your basic basic pages are finished. Go to Part 3 to prepare the pages further .
