Beer Box Journal Step by Step Part 1

Follow along and make a Beer Box Journal! This is Part 1 of 6 - The Cover. You can see a similar journal here: Cardboard Journal

Some packaging is just too good to waste. I chose this Tui box because of the great bold graphics and colours.

Art and Craft Supplies

  • Beer box / corrugated cardboard
  • A5 paper (A4 folded in half
  • Scissors
  • Packing tape
  • Modge Podge or other sealant (optional)

  • Method

Using paper as a guide, choose which parts of the box you want for your front and back covers.

Cut the covers a bit larger than the paper.

Cut a rectangle about three quarters of the height of the cover for the spine. You should cut another spine piece for strength.

Modge Podge the covers and the outer spine piece.

Cover outer edges with packing tape. Join spine pieces together in the same way.

Right side facing, tape covers to spine

Wrong side facing cut a piece of cardboard as shown in the photo. This is to add strength to the journal.

    Tape as shown.

Your basic cover is finished. Go to Part 2 to make the basic pages

    Have fun!
