This project will show you how to turn old glassware that you no longer use into a stunning piece of art or a talked about centrepiece for your home.
*YOU WILL NEED:
1. A clear glass bowl, plate or vase (I got mine from an op shop/thrift store for $1.00)
2. An artist's brush
3. Glass or acrylic paints in your choice of colour
*WHAT TO DO:
Lay your newspaper on your work surface. This can get messy so it's best to protect the table you work on.
Set your glass bowl onto the newspaper so the underside is facing you. This is the side that you will paint. You want to have a smooth glossy look on the right side so your design will look gorgeous.
Paint the underside of your bowl using the pattern of your choice. I've chosen the sea as my inspiration for this project. Please note that if you're using glass paint drying times will be longer as acrylic paint dries faster.
The colours I've chosen are a couple different shades of blue, white and some silver glitter paint.
Here's a photo of the underside of my bowl once finished...and here's the right side of the bowl so you can compare.
The finished item is intended for decorative purposes only and should not be used for dining or put into the dishwasher.
Here's a vase that I've done before.
Happy crafting! I hope you enjoy this project as much as I did!
I like this article "Upcycling Glassware" because it gives an easy and low cost way of updating our decor or making a gift for someone. It is definitely something I will try in the future.
Thank you for sharing.
