Years ago (about 15) I got a fantastic book from the library and got busy making gorgeous duvet covers and other soft furnishings for the girls.

I made them from what was about at home - white cotton sheets, an apricot sheet (soft colour contrast - ribbon content) and old net curtains (for the lace content).

The covers were like patchwork blocks, with pintucks and ruffles - I was so pleased with them. They were 'ambitious' projects that I didn't think I could achieve.

At bedtime, one of the girls proceeded to draw all over her cover with anything she could find. She went into her sister's room and drew all over that too.

Must've been so tempting, the white pintucked blocks must've looked like note pages. Decided I wouldn't be making them any more things like that until they were older.

Lately I tried to find the book again - to no avail. Here began the internet search. I had forgotten the title and the author - just knew it had something to do with calico.

So cool to be able to find it on Ebay at a cost of about $9AU ($2 for book and $7 for postage) from the UK.

Now the girls are grown, have families of their own, are out of my house - I find that I am in love again with the romantic style of these furnishings.

This is one of my favourite books in the world. Everything is well explained and a kick-start for inspiring ideas of my own.

Looks like a book I would enjoy. It is not available in my city libraries but they are good at tracking down books at other libraries. I will see if they can find it for me.
I have a yellow on yellow sheet and several small white ones. I have lace and ribbon. I've been looking for a new project.
Thanks for the recommendation!
Thanks so much for your contact. Try a Google search and compare prices. I found mine on Ebay. A great book. Good Luck and thanks again :)
