Make A Blank Canvas

Making a blank canvas or base to work with will save you time when you are making your clipart creations.

Open MS Paint. Go to Start/All Programs/Accessories/Paint.

Size your canvas by going to Image/Attributes.

A good size to make is 8 inches by 7 inches.

Put in your values, making sure the Inches option is checked.

Resizing the Canvas

Sometimes images you open or import will be too small or big to work with.

Resize your canvas by placing your cursor on the lower left edge of the page. You will see a double arrow. Click and drag the lower corner until the canvas fills your screen.

Save this blank as a JPG, TIFF or PNG file. Name it blank or something similar.

When you open it to use for your projects rename it straight away, even before you have made a mark on your canvas. This way the original blank file will stay blank and will always be ready to use for any of your future projects.

Resizing an Image

Select the image. Resize the image by placing your cursor on one of the corners until you see the double arrow. Click and drag to desired size.

Delete and Changing the Background Color

When you are deleting make sure the background color is white. To make a background color right click the swatch in the palette.
